

PAIR OF LATE LOUIS XVI GILT BRONZE AND STEEL CHENETS

Each
chenet has two gilt bronze eggs on waisted stands resting on steel
blocks mounted with gilt bronze rosettes above top-shaped steel supports
which terminate in ball feet.
The
blocks are joined by a steel cross bar with an applied gilt bronze
frieze of oves and surmounted by a band of gilt bronze pearls. Iron log
supports extend backwards and at mid-point have polished iron log stops
of up-ended top shape.
